Description

This Toki or adze is made from a type of Nephrite known to Maori as Totoweka or blood of the weka. Weka are a species of native flightless Rail to Maori they are also know as a hen or a woodhen. When the jade is held up to strong light through the transparency you see bright flecks of red which are a form of oxidisation in the stone, this is how it got it’s name. Toki represents strength and ambition to complete a task with commitment.
